For quite a while I have been posting only about Venezuela, thus I am happy do digress and note that in New Delhi the <A href=’

A Digression at last!! New New Delhi Subway such a sucess: Stay Away!
December 30, 2002Doonsbury has a blog, hope people get it
October 21, 2002Doonesbury now has one of the characters doing his own blog. Hope Venezuelans who read mine will realize now that a blog is not something the two Octavio brothers do, but something more widespread.

New Westin Hotel in New York: Too Latin?
October 19, 2002Interesting article in the NYT on the new Westin Hotel in Times Square:
“The Westin is too Latin. It’s Almodóvar. A building on the edge of a nervous breakdown. Over the edge, even. One might see that arc of light as a gauge of urban anxiety level”
Sounds very cool to me…..
Yes, but can anyone buy it?
October 12, 2002
Just kidding, just a cute name to attract people to the cool story about Robert Smithson’s ”Spiral Jetty”, the sculpture that dissapeared but now thanks to the drought has once again surfaced in the Great Salt Lake, Utah to everyone’s (those that can go see it) enjoyment. (I guess I love spirals anyway…..)
New pseudo-planet “Quaoar” found, is Pluto’s status in trouble?
October 7, 2002A new object was found in the fringes of the solar system which brings into question whether Pluto is even a planet and not just another object in the Kuiper belt. The object named Quaoar is 800 miles in diameter and about four billon miles from earth. Pluto is about three billion miles away and about 1400 miles in diameter. Cool stuff, hope Pluto is not demoted, hate when knowledge from teh time I was young is changed.!!!
By the way Quaoar is the name for a creation force in Southern Californian Indian mythology. It will make a nice word for studying Google, there are only five references to it tonight in Google.
American rescued after two months in his sailboat
October 4, 2002A man was rescued today after two months at sea:
I’ve always wondered about something like that. What do you think about? What do you do? What do you miss? Does it drive you crazy?
I guess next time he goes to Denmark he will get frequent flier miles….
Why you should not trust financial headlines
September 23, 2002Palm Inc. reported its first quarter results and it shows why one should not just read the financial headlines. Here are three views on the results:
Palm first quarter loss widens on slowing demand
Palm’s loss narrower than expected
Sort of mixed from the headlines, but looks bad on the details.
The Scam works sometimes- How stupid can people be?
September 22, 2002Well, out of the millions of e-mails sent by the African scammers, I guess sometimes they feel it is worth it. Look at the case of the secretary of this law office who stole $2.1 million to wire to the scammers to “help” in transferring the $18 million Mr. Mbuso Nelson needed to transfer out of the South African Ministry of Mines. I guess greed wins too often. Overshadows the $5 record by the scamees by quite a bit.
(As shown by this article it is even worse than I thought, too mant people fall for it!!!!)
Huge Digression part II: Here is the answer to the Michel Vuijlsteke’s mystery
September 17, 2002Well, today Michel revealed his secret to us in his blog, which actually is not in German, but apparently in dutch, maybe flemish. It is a hot story in Belgium, you can read the details here. Michel just happened to have the right comments in the right language. No wonder he was always ranked first in the morning, before people in the US read other pages, although today he is holding on to first place. Interesting blognamics.
Huge Digression: Michel Vuijlsteke’s Weblog is hot and so is Veronique de Kock
September 16, 2002I wish I understood more German to understand why Michel Vuijlsteke’s Weblog is so hot. In understand it has something to do with Veronique de Kock

but I just wonder what it is Michel linked or said that has created enough furor to make his blog as hot, after all you can find lots of her pictures online. Right now Michel is in second place in Salon.com blogs,
| 1. | Scott Rosenberg’s Links & Comment | 2,549 | ||
| 2. | Michel Vuijlsteke’s Weblog | 2,224 | ||
| 3. | the reverse cowgirl’s blog | 919 | ||
| 4. | filchyboy | 275 |
but at some point today he held the #1 spot over Scott:
De dag is nog niet over en ik heb al meer dan 1400 hits… Ik geraak er maar niet over.
| Site | | Hits | ||
| 1. | Michel Vuijlsteke’s Weblog | 1,434 | ||
| 2. | Scott Rosenberg’s Links & Comment | 1,355 | ||
| 3. | the reverse cowgirl’s blog | 364 | ||
| 4. | filchyboy | 176 |
