There have been “incidents”, but so far no major confrontation other
than in Bolivar state in order to do the audits. People have gathered
around voting centers after all and while the military has stopped
many from coming in for the “audit”, which is not an audit but a
counting of the ballots. I guess Minister Jesse James could not get
away with it, but the military has been a pain in many places. In
Bolivar state there are reports that the National Guard has surrounded
the headquarters of the opposition candidate. The Chavistas are
claining they got all but two of the Governorships, the opposition
says they have at least eight, so go figure. The truth is likely to be
in the middle. The Chavistas claim that the opposition won Nueva
Esparta and Zulia, but reports (see Daniel’s blog) from the Yaracuy
and Zulia audits suggest these two Governors nwon. CNE sources are
telling people that the manual votye has to be counted before
conclduing anything. Is that where the trick is this time around?

Abstention appears to be very high, which means the Governmentīs
supporters did not show up either. This could make things quite
different or at least produce results that are unexpected in many
places. Somehow I detect a change in tone on the part of the
Government. Are they worried?Very inetresting, they would look really
bad if they did not sweep like in August so the servers must now be
ready to do their dirty work. Will they really allow the press in?
Letīs see if they do.

Using the “true” numbers from the recall vote and adding a little
abstention and polls, I reached the conclusion on Friday that the
opposition its unlikely to win more than seven Governorships. Add
cheating and we are talking three to four. If there is more, it woudl
prove the August 15th. fraud, but you can be sure they will cheat
again.
