Hugo Chavez has a mind of his own. He goes on TV and tells lies and stories just as if they were facts, sometimes lying about things a President should not even know about. Case in point is housing, Hugo needed housing built for his Mision Vivienda, in the absence of sufficient housing units built, he started making up numbers, claiming by the end of 2011 that 92% of the 150,000 promised housing units had been built. Experts do not even believe half of that was built as the program did not even begin until April.
But his ability to spew out high quality BS was clear when talking about the Miami consul Livia Acosta, who was expelled from the US after being taped by Spanish broadcaster Univision plotting with Cuban and Iranian buddies to cyber attack US nuclear power plants.
Chavez publicly confirmed the expulsion, but then went into imaginary overdrive, saying that Venezuelan intelligence sources new the action was coming and thus Mrs. Acosta left the US in Dec. 15th. and was already in Venezuela.
Except that…
Mrs. Acosta herself in a radio program said this week that she was in Miami on January 9th. when the expulsion order came through and immediately left the country, contradicting Chavez’ imaginary tale of Venezuelan intelligence being ahead of the game.
In fact, it appears that this was more of a problem of lack of communication within Chavez’ Government (Surprise, surprise!) Reportedly, the US Government had informed Foreign Minister Maduro of the upcoming broadcast and revelations to allow the Venezuelan Government to withdraw Acosta quietly. Except that Maduro not only decided not to remove her from her post, but failed to inform the boss.
Meanwhile Mrs. Acosta (shown above) is back in Caracas after her meteoric rise in Venezuela’s diplomatic circles. She went from being a member of Chavez’ Bolivarian Circles, to being trained as an intelligence office in Cuba, to being a member of Venezuela’s intelligence service SEBIN (where apparently anyone can check if they have your ID number if you are an employee of the country’s intelligence service!!) to Consul in Miami in eight years.
Only in the revolution…

Closing the Miami Consul is another of the stupidest, meanest things Chavez has done. The effects are to cost Venezuelans much money and suffering-the idiot
does not care.
Closing the Consul is rediculous stupid. Evil.

Talking about nincompoops, how does Mrs. Acosta Noguera compare to Mrs. Hillary Clinton on the foreign policy nincompoopian scale? LOL

Sometimes I think, maybe US is just watching Chavez thinking he’s like a teenager who is wild, and disobedient-but he will learn one day and change.
In the meantime, he is a magnet for uneducated latinos who are frustrated and living a wild, disobedient life. =”anti-establishment”. So, rather than punish
Chavez-they ignore him Of course, he hates this and is driven to further extremes.Sort of fits into a pattern-but, in reality it is more than child’s play, experimenting. In a sense, Chavez got addicted through Castro -and after so many years is “incurable’-I think so..

Is it just my eyes, or is this the “missing village idiot”?
la espia mas feo- wow. Scare me.
There is no way she did all of the things they said –
maybe there are 2 or 3 Mrs. Acosta’s..
I have heard an endless number of complaints about
Miami- ex. for 6 months they claimed “they were
out of paper” and could not print new passports..
people paying bribes is claimed to be common there
if you want to get anything done.
Many problems with appointments, etc. Run by idiots?

She seems to have a Venezuelan, Central coast accent, at least in this:
January 12, 2012 at 5:36 pm
Question: was she born venezuelan or is she a naturalized citizen?
The whole episode looks so un-venezuelan to me…can you check, Miguel?

There is a lot more to this story and Mrs Acosta works for, answers to whom?
First, guite a list of Mexicans and their connections to terrorists group of Iranians-several Iranians mentioned too.(Funny, nobody in Press questioned President of Iran about this while he was visiting Venezuela?)
Finally, the US State DEpartment and FBI played their usual, weak
surrendering hand….
I think CHavez and Madura actually gambled that the US was not going to do anything-and just let this pass…
But, thanks again to some Cuban conservatives in US who raised the issue in Washington, DC demanding an investigation-or really nothing would have been done.
January 12, 2012 at 7:02 pm
Following up-today the US State Dept. almost came out apologizing and begging to look for ways to befriend Chavez. “Nothing has changed..”
Well, hell, What will it take to get a reaction from US?
State Department under Sec. Hillary Clinton-as weak as water.
And, this thing got no play in US press- nobody cares…
I bet there isn’t even one FBI working on this case right now..
January 12, 2012 at 11:37 pm
you are probably correct
January 13, 2012 at 11:01 am
I saw the Univision documentary, and my guess is that those students were who induced the meetings and started the discussions about conspiracy plans, and no serious feedback hapened: First, you can hear the students starting to propose plans before the Iranian diplomatic, but you can’t see what he answered (They said they have 9 hours of recorded material, but, Is that the best that they have???????).
In the case of Mrs. Acosta Noguera, she gave feedback as an exited 5 year old girl who was invited to the playground. My guess is that she acted as a nincompoop that deserved to be removed, no like a real treat for anybody different than herself…. US Government must know this, and acted accordingly…. It’s also probable that Hugo fired Nicolas for expose him internationally in that stupid way by naming such mentally poor woman as a diplomatic.
Iran could be a real treat for the world, but those tapes doesn’t have anything to do with a real treat.
January 13, 2012 at 11:53 am
BMD, you may be correct about the students. The consul backed herself on prime time. The timing couldn’t have been worse. The US has had a string of intelligence failures with Iran going way back. I see the Iranians producing high explosive in Venezuela!

What happens to kids who lie? They get the choice of becoming weathermen or politicians. LOL
BTW, talking about nuclear sabotge, Iran is looking for a new chief nuclear chemist. Theirs just got blown up.

Pathetic indeed. That’s perhaps why they are sending Maduro to try his luck in Carabobo.
Miguel, I don’t understand this:
“where apparently anyone can check with your ID number if you are an employee!!”
What’s so strange? A lot of people in Venezuela can control a lot with your ID number: your VAT stuff, your birthday and voting centre, etc.
I am sure there is a lot more that SEBIN can control about us, including phone calls coming in for people 2 steps of distance from any major oppo figure or the like. Whether they have enough manpower even to go through what Chinese and otherwise technology summarizes for them is another matter.
January 12, 2012 at 11:36 am
No, no, the article says that a reporter with the Lady’s ID number and using SEBIN’s savings plan website was able to determine that she works for Venezuela’s intelligence service. It’s as if anyone could check if you work with the CIA with your social security number.
January 12, 2012 at 12:20 pm
LOL
January 12, 2012 at 1:33 pm
Oh, sorry!
I suppose it’s ludicrous and yet: I wouldn’t be so surprised either, it’s Venezuela.
You wouldn’t believe the amount of information people leave hanging around.
Just first hit I found http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7449927.stm
but I remember much worse cases just for Britain. If that is Britain, what wouldn’t be for Venezuela? But then anything goes.
