Observations focused on the problems of an underdeveloped country, Venezuela, with some serendipity about the world (orchids, techs, science, investments, politics) at large. A famous Venezuelan, Juan Pablo Perez Alfonzo, referred to oil as the devil's excrement. For countries, easy wealth appears indeed to be the sure path to failure. Venezuela might be a clear example of that.

Two guys decided to canoe the Guaire river, that cuts accross Caracas, yesterday during the march. The Guaire is absolutely filthy and polluted and the symbolism was that they were traversing “The Sea of Happiness” of Chavez’ revolution. Hugo Chavez once said that Venezuelans would one day cruise through the Sea of Happiness of the Cuban people, well, we are getting there……
