Observations focused on the problems of an underdeveloped country, Venezuela, with some serendipity about the world (orchids, techs, science, investments, politics) at large. A famous Venezuelan, Juan Pablo Perez Alfonzo, referred to oil as the devil's excrement. For countries, easy wealth appears indeed to be the sure path to failure. Venezuela might be a clear example of that.

I’d translate ‘rojo. rojito’ as ‘red. really red.’

Deprecatory Venezuelan slang term, originally from Puerto Rico in the 1940s and 1950s, used to refer to those who imitate and adore in a servile manner people from the US and the US lifestyle, ashamed of their origin and denying their origin. Originally from the French: Petit Yankee.

Rojo, Rojito: red, little red (diminutive/affectionate form of “red”)” red and redder. Signifies support of Chavez. Notice all the red shirts that Chavez and his supporters wear. Or: Chavez all the way. 110% behind Chavez.
Pitiyanqui: Gringo Lover, Yankee Lover, Yanqui Lover ( Reminds one of a certain phrase from the Jim Crow era, does it not?)

Rojo Rojito: Red, Little Red (rojito= diminutive/affectionate form of “rojo). A catch phrase Chavistas use to show how attached they are to Chavez. Note the red shirts that Chavez and the Chavistas wear. Or: Chavez all the way, 100% behind Chavez.
Pitiyanqui: Yanqui- lover. Yankee-lover. (Reminds one of a certain phrase from the Jim Crow era, no?)

funny how the PSFs at VenezuelANALysis are spinning this … I’m referring to the bird brained Tamara Pearson and the dodo Chris Carlson. One day these kids will have to get real jobs! Can anyone imaging Chavez at 67 barking orders? Not me.
