B. Could not find a No mas Chavez protest in Seattle, so off he went to Vancouver. Thanks!
Observations focused on the problems of an underdeveloped country, Venezuela, with some serendipity about the world (orchids, techs, science, investments, politics) at large. A famous Venezuelan, Juan Pablo Perez Alfonzo, referred to oil as the devil's excrement. For countries, easy wealth appears indeed to be the sure path to failure. Venezuela might be a clear example of that.

Miguel-
Off topic, but I think you should take a look at this amazing discussion of monetary reform. They are really on to something here:

These are the questions I posed to a rabid Chavez supporter, in response to a gushing article about Noam Chomsky’s recent Venezuela visit, at the website http://rabble.ca (Canada):
(The title of the article was “Noam Chomsky in Venezuela: ‘A better world is being created'”)
What do you think about the Guardia Nacional opening fire on and gassing non-violent marchers who were protesting an education bill in Caracas on Saturday August 22 2009?
What do you think about Richard Blanco, the Prefecto of the Caracas Metropolitan Mayor’s office, being jailed in Yare prison under a charge of “damaging the barriers” that the police set up to contain the march? Is this OK by you?
What do you think about Attorney General Luisa Ortega’s statement last Friday on her radio program that the prosecutor’s office will open proceedings against all those who “protest for any reason” because they “only seek to destabilize the elected government” and that they should know “what are now the consequences”?
Do you support the actions of the Guardia Nacional and the statements of AG Luisa Ortega, and the awarding of the Libertador medal to GN Commander Benavides for opening fire on the marchers?
Si o no?

The questions were posed on August 31; there has been no response or further discussion on that thread. None.

THUGO is having a blast at Venice with his buddy Oliver Stone:

I wonder the amount of money being spent there by him as we speak. Truly a venezuelan oligarch.

Do you think Chavez is a democratic leader? If so…
– What do you think about the two sided justice in Venezuela which only acts rigorously against the Opposition party/media/individuals…
– What do you think about the recent escalade of criminilization of all the broadcast media that opensly adverses the executive?
– What do you think about removing a democratically elected Mayor and appoint by finger a substitute?
– What do you think about the numerous presos politicos in Venezuela?
– What do you think of the constant threat against the people who depends on state subsides forcing them to support the Goverment?
– What do you think, about the Lista Tascon and the discrimination of people for expressing their political ideas?
– What do you think about expropiation of private companys without paying a dime the original owners?
– What do you think about political inherence of Chavez in the rest of Latin America?
– What do you thing about threats against private properties in to comply some crazy cut on the fees or debts owed by the state to them or taking their company away?
I could go on for lines and lines… Ethics and morale is so double sided that makes me sick, money can buy you anything…

GWEH, that is a REALLY good idea as long as the questions are serious, with no irony and respectful but challenging his belief in Hugo Chávez, we should send them to him, see if he answers back.
Two questions:
Do you know of the Tascón list? What do you think about it?
Do you think Hugo Chávez is a democratic leader? If so, what do you make
of his desire to be indefinetely reelected?

That brings up the question… what about the Second Life game? lol.
Don’t feel bad about the US media not covering it, they never cover anything important it seems.

lets come up with 20 questions for Oliver Stone now that Ollie is going to get lots of interviews on Chavez. Lets show them what to really ask.

I don’t think this was covered by the US media at all. Probably got at least a mention here and there.
