Observations focused on the problems of an underdeveloped country, Venezuela, with some serendipity about the world (orchids, techs, science, investments, politics) at large. A famous Venezuelan, Juan Pablo Perez Alfonzo, referred to oil as the devil's excrement. For countries, easy wealth appears indeed to be the sure path to failure. Venezuela might be a clear example of that.

Its beautiful. I had an engineer friend who worked for PDVSA about 15 yr ago and he used to tell me how cool Caracas was. I’ve always wanted to go and I feel bad that it just sounds a bit too dangerous the last 10 yr.
Anyway, it would be cool to hear more of what is still excellent about Caracas, what people still love about it despite this surreal political situation you have been going through for the last decade.

So lovely.I remember when we lived in El Cafetal in the 80’s we saw a sun halo in the sky which was just amazing !I think it happened right around the time of ‘el jeque sin cheque’.
