Observations focused on the problems of an underdeveloped country, Venezuela, with some serendipity about the world (orchids, techs, science, investments, politics) at large. A famous Venezuelan, Juan Pablo Perez Alfonzo, referred to oil as the devil's excrement. For countries, easy wealth appears indeed to be the sure path to failure. Venezuela might be a clear example of that.

Almost 2 hours ago a friend reported at least 490 voters in Montreal… (some ~850 on the REP) …over 50% turnout. The local volunteers and organizers didn’t expect more than 200. Amazing if you consider that only weeks ago we didn’t even know if primaries would be held in Montreal!

Yes, -17 centigrades. And with the windchill factor -25. Massive turnout. Whole families showed up. Great organization by the volunteers. There was even a guy outside showing people where to park!
