Observations focused on the problems of an underdeveloped country, Venezuela, with some serendipity about the world (orchids, techs, science, investments, politics) at large. A famous Venezuelan, Juan Pablo Perez Alfonzo, referred to oil as the devil's excrement. For countries, easy wealth appears indeed to be the sure path to failure. Venezuela might be a clear example of that.

I don’t think the GN soldier is aiming at the reporter holding the microphone.
Rather I would hazard a guess that he is aiming at the cameraman.

Hey guys, all you beloved blog writers.
WOuld it be too much too ask for some background on the 24 prisoners that Chavez is letting run free today. I don’t feel it is just random people.

The frog has been slow boiled. Somehow I doubt that any real rebellion would ever be launched.

When goons point weapons at attacking crowds, most civilized people have a problem with it.
When they point shotguns at reporters at point blank range, that is just plain criminal!
When is Venezuela going to wake up. Democracy has collapsed, and it is time to start over. The Devil needs to be removed.

In the photo shows lot of reporters, where ever the GN is pointing, you can tell is pointing to somebody, in close range, very provably other reporters.
What I am amazing most of the last events, is that most of the laws promulgated recently are unconstitutional or illegal; in a democratic country with independency of powers this will be enough to decapitated from the power anyone in charge.
It is clearer than ever before that Venezuela do not have a democracy.

I’m not convinced that he is pointing at her. This seems to be a photo effect. He and her are at different planes and he is pointing almost parallel to the plane of the picture, he would need to be facing more to his left to have her on his sights.

That a*hole even has his finger on the trigger, i.e. ready to shoot. And at that range, it doesn’t matter much if it’s a rubber bullet.
I’m sharing this photo…

Venezuela might be upside down, and irregular “forces” might do many untoward things to the pueblo, and everyone in it, but it’s simply not in the heart of most trained military personal to blow aways a young female reporter (as seen in the photo) with a shotgun. Not saying it can never happen, but when it does, on any kind of scale, the divisions this will cause in the ranks will be irreparable, and Chavez will have to go.
