Reading the Raul Reyes papers, the thing that strikes you the most is the ever presence of Ramon Rodriguez Chacin, who has been Chavez’ Minister of many things and who has had a questionable past, including having two Venezuelan ID cards, and a huge account in a bank, but Chavistas are forgiven for such sins.Not the enemies.
Going through the Reyes emails, I was struck how Chacin met, communicated and contacted Reyes and the FARC’s leadership with incredible regularity and mostly representing Chavez. The whole strategy of acting as mediators to release the hostage is contained in the emails and Rodriguez Chacin is always present.
But the sentence that struck me the most was (1.2811):
“Rodriguez Chacin asked about the possibility of transmitting our experience in a guerrilla war, which they call the “asymmetric war”. They want to operating modes, explosives, Bolivarian speeches, forest camps, how to ambush, logistics, mobility, all of this thinking of an adequate response to the possibility of an invasion..There will be many levels, some of them with some Generals..Chavez proposes quarterly contacts to balance out the contacts with the two guerrilla groups”
All over the place, Rodriguez Chacin offers help and collaboration with the FARC, visiting and contacting them and even asking about people kidnapped in Venezuela, not because they care but because there is “pressure”.
Rodriguez Chacin has always been a shady character, Minister of the Interior twice, Head of the Intelligence Office DISIP and famous for calling the guerrillas “comrades” when the hostages were turned over and to “keep up their fight”
Yes, Chavistas, keep denying the obvious…

It’s a google hit on cache, I think it was once upon a time in Noticiero Digital until people made it disappear.
In the emails from Reyes there are references to Chacín galore and his name is often “El Cojo”. I am not sure every occurrence of “El Cojo” in that file is Chacín, but I think that is th case.

El capitán de navío (r) Ramón Rodríguez Chacin, – quienj fuera el principal coordinador de las FARC-ELN en Venezuela por parte de Miraflores, -desde antes de que fuese nombrado Ministro de Justicia y participase en la dirección de La Masacre de Miraflores ( 11.4.2002), aparece virtual, pero no físicamente.
Luego de la operación de “liberación” de rehenes de las FARC, fue el principal coordinador de los intentos de subversión en Honduras y de la consolidación de aquel país como “narco-trampolín” de las drogas provenientes desde Venezuela a México y Estados.
Está en la palestra pública por supuestas declaraciones que le fueron atribuidas hace 3 días, en un boletín de prensa del partido PSUV.
Lo que sabemos es que su estado de salud es muy delicado. Sufre de metástasis, producto de un tumor cerebral.
Tiene ya una sobrevida de 8 meses respecto a un diagnóstico de mediados del año pasado.
Le asiste actualmente un médico, amigo, compañero, norteamericano, que viene periódicamente hasta su finca en el Estado Barinas.
Tenemos información que gestionó un permiso humanitario para ser tratado en Israel y le fue negado por aquel país con el cual Hugo Chávez rompió relaciones hace dos años.
Solicitó también que un médico israelí, conocido suyo de su época de estudiante en Inglaterra y de quien dicen es una eminencia en cuestiones de cáncer, viniera al país y también le fue prohibido por el gobierno de Tel Aviv.
Su salud se deteriora día a día y su carácter es insoportable, dicen fuentes del fundo.
Permanece mucho tiempo en soledad en su fundo “El Cristo” en Barinas, comprado en el 2003-4 en Bs 1.500 millones (registrados Bs.900 millones),… de los de entonces.

Yes friends, we all have a good idea of what Rodríguez Chacín has done or will do (murder, kidnapping, blackmail, arms traffic, etc.)
But, here is a little anecdote about this criminal: in the mid 90’s he was — hold your laughs– a management professor at Caracas’ very own UNIMET. For those who do not know UNIMET, it is a leading private university, very capitalistic-leaning and also very expensive.
I was not one of his students, but many friends of mine were. I hope former students confirm this and add a little spice as well.
As I recall, he was remembered for:
1) Being a lousy, unprepared, irresponsible teacher (a “pirata” in colloquial language)
2) Always having dirt under his nails and sometimes lecturing with visible bruises and scars on his face and arms.
So, when the firing squad is ready or the Hague tribunal has almost issued its sentence, I guess you can put “being lousy educator” as other crime he committed.

That guy is owner – officially – of, under other things, a hacienda that is a couple of thousand hectares big. That is several times the average hacienda expropiated in Southern Zulia for Chávez to give to the Russian fruit company JVC. He is one of the intellectual perpetrators of the Massacre of Amparo, he could not shoot because his helicopter fell down in an accident going to the attact. He was responsible for other attacks on civilians.
That guy is a bastard who can and will be with anyone as long as he can play his dirty games (getting the millions to buy haciendas is not a bad incentive either)
